The Government of Saskatchewan is providing $1.3 million in capital grant funding to 15 community-based organizations to repair, renovate and improve accessibility at group homes, respite homes and day programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
"Our community partners help individuals with intellectual disabilities live, learn and participate in their communities," Social Services Minister Terry Jenson said. "Investing in facilities helps homes and programs remain welcoming spaces where individuals can build skills, develop relationships and gain greater independence."
As part of the 2026-27 Provincial Budget, the funding supports upgrades to program facilities for community-based organizations that provide services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The projects include accessibility improvements, kitchen and bathroom repairs and renovations, and exterior upgrades to group homes, respite homes and day programs.
Residential services such as group homes and respite homes provide a supportive living environment in the community. Day programs provide a range of social, recreational, and supported employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. By investing in these services, we are ensuring that more individuals with intellectual disabilities will have the opportunity to participate and thrive in their communities.
