God is good and the devil is bad! From that one statement we can tell right from wrong. Isaiah 5:20 states, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil." Psalm 34:11-14 declares, "Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear (reverence) of the Lord. Whoever of you who loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

President Trump appeared on worldwide TV and quoted a scripture, Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land." For this to happen Jeremiah 7:5 tells us what is necessary. "If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the alien (foreigner), the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in their place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever." Each scripture lists directions to save our nation from disaster: Israel, Canada, USA, UK or any other. In our national anthem we sing, "God keep our land." (Lavallee, Weir) Our prayer is for God to keep us safe. Let's say or sing it every day with thankful hearts and voices loud and clear!

Acts 20:21 "I have declared to both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles -non-Jews) that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus." Hebrews 1:3 "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command and so what is seen was not made out of what is visible." In Hebrews 11:1 we read the meaning of faith. "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Read it again, slowly, listening to every word. God is not visible to us but He is real. That's faith! Our glorious land declares the majesty and presence of our God in all He created. 'Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God - breathed and is used for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness." Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your pathways straight.

Prayer: Oh God - our Lord and Saviour, you know us, care for us, and love us. You know the turmoil that surrounds us. We pray that you will give us your wisdom, knowledge, understanding, strength, and courage. Direct our thoughts, words, and actions so we may do your will in all things. Whisper in our ears - "Peace, be still!" Help us to trust you! Forgive our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We give you all the glory and honour with great thanksgiving. Amen!
