Punnichy RCMP seize fentanyl and a weapon during break-in

On January 28, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Punnichy RCMP received a report of a break-in at a residential garage in Raymore

Officers responded and located an adult male suspect. The owner of the garage declined to press charges. Officers searched the suspect, and seized approximately 34 grams of fentanyl, and a set of polymer knuckles. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

 As a result of continued investigation, Punnichy RCMP have charged 29-year-old Jonas McNab from Muskowekwan First Nation with:

  • one count, fail to comply probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, fail to comply with undertaking condition, Section 145(4)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, carrying concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – Schedule I: Fentanyl (and analogues), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

 He is scheduled to appear in Punnichy Provincial Court on February 3 (Information #90584151 and 90584152). 

 “While we cannot confirm any connection between this incident and the recent drug alert issued for the Punnichy area, it is reassuring that investigators were able to locate and remove harmful substances from our community,” shares S/Sgt. Nathan Rondeau, Punnichy RCMP Detachment Commander.
