Saskatchewan farmers reap record 2025 harvest
Province posts 41.9 million tonnes of grain and oilseed, surpassing past production highs
January 4, 2026
key points from this story:
- Record 41.9 million tonnes in 2025
- Up 13.7 percent from previous year
- Exceeds five-year average by 24.1 percent
- Science and breeding boost yields
- Technology improves farming efficiency
- Farmers' skill completes the success
It didn’t exactly seem like everything was falling into place through 2025 to create the conditions needed for a ‘bumper’ crop, but in the end that is exactly what happened.
Saskatchewan produced a record 41.9 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds in 2025, up 13.7 per cent from the previous year, the agriculture ministry said Dec. 19, the numbers based on estimates provided by Statistics Canada.
The record is also 24.1 per cent above the five-year average.
Such numbers are a testament to the province’s farmers of course, but when one pauses to consider what goes into a record crop it really illustrates how successful farming relies on a rather diverse network.
