Trade tends to work best when left alone so that supply and demand realities take over. It makes sense that the lower the supply and the greater one’s need the more they are willing to pay, and of course the opposite holds true too.

Unfortunately, there are always other forces impacting trade, and at present no outside force is more disruptive than U.S. president Donald Trump and his tariffs. Trump, as we all know, tosses tariffs and threats of tariffs around like a petulant child tossing building blocks when he doesn’t get a cookie he wants.
