key points from this story:

  • Cross cannot be ignored in history
  • Gethsemane reveals Jesus’ humanity
  • Christ’s sacrifice brings salvation
  • Faith ensures forgiveness and freedom
  • Trust in God through hardships
  • Easter blessings shared in prayer

One thing no one can do is ignore the cross! History has done everything to it but ignore it. It can be made of gold, silver, wood or plastic. It can be loved or hated, trashed or cherished, burned or idolized, but not ignored.

Gethsemane brought the human part of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, to the forefront. He knew God, the Father, sent Him as the sacrificial Lamb of God to bring us salvation, but He was in human agony, dreading the hurt to be inflicted upon Him by man. Only God’s great love for us allowed the crucifixion to happen. (John 3:16) NIV 1Corinthians 15:3 “Christ died for our sins!”

Jesus died on the cross so we can be free from eternal damnation. “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:21) NIV “He (Christ) cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:14) NLT

We all have our Gethsemane’s, sorrow, pain, hardships of many kinds, but we can trust in our Saviour, who suffered nothing but pain, humiliation, and shame in our stead! Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your pathways straight.”(NIV)

Prayer: Lord, forgive me of all my sins and be my Saviour. Thank you. Amen

I wish you God’s richest blessings this Easter season.
