Wynyard RCMP seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl and 1.8 kilograms of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. On March 4, 2026, officers conducted the stop on Avenue D East as part of an ongoing investigation involving a car. During the roadside investigation, an adult male was arrested at the scene.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led officers to locate and seize the fentanyl, methamphetamine, 162 grams of cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a large sum of cash. Following the investigation, 26-year-old Jaspreet Singh from Scarborough, Ontario, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 under Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Singh appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on March 5, 2026, under Information #90508904, and is scheduled to appear again on March 9, 2026. Sgt. Geoff Applegate, Wynyard RCMP detachment commander, emphasized the dangers of fentanyl, noting that even small amounts can be lethal. He stated that the seizure disrupted a drug trafficking operation that could have caused significant harm within the community. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team and Wadena/Foam Lake RCMP assisted in the investigation.
