This program is geared towards families and individuals that may not be able to access the Regional Parks without the lending program. The program will be funded and administered by Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association for 2025; for the long-term sustainability of the program, funding options are being explored.

The SRPA and the SLA are thankful to the Saskatchewan Parks Recreation Association for funding the program over the last three years and establishing this valuable partnership.

Starting June 16ththrough September 15th, 2025, anyone with a valid library card can borrow a pass from any Saskatchewan library to enjoy free seven-day access to nearly 100 regional parks across the province. The program has been a hit with campers. In 2024, the library passes were circulated over 6,000 times! With over 850 passes available this year, distribution will include all regional library branches, libraries in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, and university libraries in Saskatoon and Regina.

Saskatchewan's regional parks offer a variety of outdoor activities, from trails and scenic lakes to secluded camping spots and challenging golf courses. By removing barriers to participation, the program aims to encourage people to enjoy the natural beauty of the province

“We’re pleased to bring the library lending program back this year, making it easier than ever for people to connect with nature and discover the incredible beauty of Saskatchewan’s Regional Parks,” said SRPA Executive Director, Madison Giesbrecht. “This initiative is all about accessibility, sustainability, and creating memorable outdoor experiences for everyone in our communities.”

As libraries continue to serve as centers of community engagement, programs like this one offer unique opportunities for recreation and connection.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be participating in this fantastic program again this year, and I hope that library patrons from all across the province will take the opportunity to make wonderful memories by visiting the Regional Parks of Saskatchewan this summer,” said SLA President, James Howard. “Libraries have long been community hubs for recreational programming, and we enthusiastically thank our partners at the Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association for funding this year’s program and providing this exciting recreational opportunity for Saskatchewan library patrons and their families.”

Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be obtained in person. Library patrons are encouraged to contact their local branch to confirm availability.
