Minister Message - The necessity of Easter
A reflection on God’s purpose in Easter and our call to share His love

key points from this story:
- Easter and Christmas share divine origin
- Call to share Christ with others
- Canadians urged to live true faith
- Jesus’ death brought redemption for all
- Christ seeks all lost souls
- Renewed commitment to spread God’s love
Once more, at this time, we should be reminded of the origin of Easter. Easter was God’s idea, not ours, and it coincides with Christmas which was also God’s idea!
We should not think it strange to remember these both at the same time, as one is hinged upon the other. It behooves us as Christianity to make this Babe of Bethlehem, known to all the other babies and their parents around the world.
We, in Canada, take pride in being a Christian country, yet we put our thoughts, deeds and actions towards bettering ourselves, padding our bank accounts and yet we fail to put the concerns of others less fortunate, in proper perspective.
The necessity of Easter should jog our memories and actions once again this year. Jesus came at Christmas to bring us redemption from our sins. He culminated the reason for His coming on the Cross of Calvary when He died for EVERYONE!
He tells us in the Holy Scriptures, that He is “our good Shepherd” and not willing that “anyone” should perish. He came to seek and save not just children, but parents and grandparents as well. After all, it was the sheep, not the lamb, that that went astray in the parable Jesus told.
If we have come to our benevolent Saviour for forgiveness and blessings, and have received the same, then we are obligated to extend our Creator’s message to the entire world starting at Easter.
Our response and prayers to God should be, “Lord, give to me Thy love for souls, for lost and dying sheep. Help me to see the tragic plight of souls far out in sin. Help me to love and pray and go to bring the wandering in. O fire of love, O flame Devine, make Thy abode in me. Burn in my heart, burn evermore, “til I burn out for Thee!”
This is the true necessity of Easter! What are we doing about it?
