Key points from this story:
- Man's inhumanity is worsening daily.
- God created us in His image.
- The love of money causes many issues.
- Trust in the Lord for guidance.
- God's faithfulness endures through generations.
- Psalm 91 offers comfort and protection.
A song written by Albert E Brumley gives me great comfort: "This world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through." Most of this world seems to have forgotten or doesn't realize this truth.
Man's inhumanity to man is worse everyday. Our Lord left us two commandments; love the Lord your God...and love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39)
Too many people won't accept they are just puny humans made of a bit of dirt and spit, God's dirt, God's spit! God created us all in His own image. (Genisis 1) Psalm 14:1 tells us "The fool says in his heart there is no God." In Proverbs 14:16 we read "A wise man fears (reveres or honours) the Lord and shuns evil but a fool is hotheaded and reckless." Wise or foolish?
Money is the great "idol" of our world. 1Timothy 6:10 reads "for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."
No matter what happens in our world God is always with his faithful. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your pathways straight." (Proverbs 3:5) Days you need comfort and reassurance read Psalm 100. "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us and we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations."
Psalm 91 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most-High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust'...
If you make the Most-High your dwelling - even the Lord, who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 'Because he loves me,' says the Lord, 'I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.'" (Scripture: NIV)
