Obituary - Sharon Mae Welder

Public Submission

June 13, 1944 – August 13, 2023

With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharon Welder, who passed away peacefully on August 13, 2023, with family by her side.

Sharon was predeceased by her husband, Paul Welder, in 2002 and by her parents, Frank and Mae Bradley.

Sharon is survived by sons Derek (Lisa) and Brett (Nikki); grandchildren Madison, Kayden, Dennen and Davia; great-grandson Hunter; furry companions Winnie, Jonas, Gabe and Leo; sister Barb Winter; niece Melissa (Rob) Davidson, her extended lake family at Last Mountain Regional Park (LMRP) and many more friends and family.

Sharon was born in Tisdale on June 13, 1944, and spent her early years in Aborfield before moving to Govan, where she grew up. She married Paul Welder, and after living in Regina and Prince George, they moved back to Govan to raise their family. Sharon and Paul moved to Thompson, Manitoba, after her boys graduated before retiring and returning to Govan, where they planned to spend winters in town and summers at the lake, which she continued after Paul’s untimely death in 2002. Sharon loved her time at the lake where she watched her two sons, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson take swimming lessons and play in the park.

Sharon cherished her time with her sister Barb, watching curling in the winter and spending time at the lake in the summer, where they enjoyed tending to her garden, having a coffee on the deck and spending time with all her dear friends.

Sharon was a beautiful person inside and out. She cared deeply for the people around her and made their lives rich with her kindness and passion. She made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed. The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. They became a special part of Sharon’s life in her final months with the exceptional care and compassion that they provided. In true Sharon fashion, she made many new friends and was loved by all who met her. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.

As per her wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Conley Funeral Home, Strasbourg, SK. 1-306-725-4000.
