RM of Dufferin Meeting Highlights - In two parts

June 9th, 2021 - Part 1

It was another busy session for the Council for the RM of Dufferin as they met in council chambers on June 09th, beginning after 8 am. Two new councillors were at the table, which appeared to make it difficult for Council to be socially distanced around the chamber’s table.

It was another whopper of an agenda as New Business items circled the alphabet, from A – NN. The agenda included three delegations and was so long that the meeting had to be wrapped up at 4 pm. As the Council could not get through the agenda, Council scheduled a special meeting for June 23rd at 3:30 pm. During the meeting, Council discussed problems they were having following the agenda in its current format, as there was an agenda and a sub-agenda.

New Councillors Sworn In

Two new councillors were sworn in after being acclaimed; Councillor Kyle Sanderson for Division 1 and Councillor Hoyt Colvin for Division 2. Reeve Russ Kirzinger and the Council have been working towards bringing professionalism, respect, transparency, and accountability to the RM. In that same thread, both new councillors read their oath of office aloud before the meeting.
