RM of Dufferin Unanswered Questions, Resignations, Contradictions

Council for the RM of Dufferin met over Zoom for their regular meeting on April 14th.

Financial Statement & Accounts for Approval

Council continued to ask questions on the RM’s financial statement. Councillor Ashton Riche asked the CAO how the employee salaries were detailed in the statement. The information shows the breakdown for the CAO, assistant and the foreman but no other employees. The CAO explained that they were indicated by a lump sum on the statement and not individually broken down as the individual information is input into a payroll program.

Councillor Riche asked about the charge for the Village of Bethune water and sewer. The CAO said he thought the RM was paying the Village and the Village was repaying the RM, but he would have the invoice taken out, and the Village would now pay it directly. He said it was an either-or, that it could be done monthly or at the end of the year.

There was a question about a payment to the SARM Office of Community Planning. The CAO said he had been working on it since 2017 after the Council made a motion to engage Community Planning to draft a new OCP and zoning bylaws. He noted that Robyn from community planning had sent an email detailing the timeframe for 2021 and that Council will meet with their office in May.
