The meeting, set to take place on Wednesday, March 13th from 7-9 PM at the Centennial Hall in Nokomis, will feature presentations by the Town of Nokomis, BHP Jansen, the George Gordon Development Corporation, and Flexnetworks. Topics to be discussed include housing, childcare, training and education, labour and economic development, emergency services, and governance.

The $14 billion-dollar investment into the BHP Jansen mine project is the largest in Saskatchewan's history. With production scheduled to begin in late 2026, BHP has estimated the project will generate 5,500 employment opportunities during the construction phase and 900 long-term roles within the company. Opportunities for local economic development are coming, and the townhall meeting in Nokomis is intended to both inform the public of exactly what these opportunities are, as well as gather contributions from citizens as the community looks towards the future.
